A Step Forward by DURP Faculty of Engineering Undip for Keerom: Advancing Development through Research and Community Engagement
The Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), welcomed a visit from the Regional Development Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (Bapperida) of Keerom Regency to explore strategic collaboration in the field of regional planning and development. This visit reflects DURP Faculty of Engineering Undip’s commitment to contributing to society through academic research and practical training activities.
The meeting marked an initial step toward establishing research collaboration focused on optimizing settlements, drainage systems, and sanitation in the urban area of Arso, Keerom Regency. In addition, the collaboration also includes training programs with regionally owned enterprises (BUMD) operating in the local economic sector. These training activities specifically involve the Planning Training Center (PLACE) Undip as a partner in capacity building and place-based economic empowerment, with the aim of promoting sustainable local potential development.
Prof. Dr.sc.agr. Iwan Rudiarto, Head of DURP Faculty of Engineering Undip, who is also involved in this collaboration, expressed his support for the initiative. “DURP Faculty of Engineering Undip is committed to supporting this collaboration as a tangible contribution to regional development, particularly in improving infrastructure quality and human resources in Keerom Regency,” he stated.
Looking ahead, DURP Faculty of Engineering Undip is expected to continue expanding partnerships with local governments to enhance the quality of public services and sustainable regional development. This collaboration also aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6 (clean water and sanitation), Goal 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure), and Goal 11 (sustainable cities and communities). With the spirit of “Undip with Dignity, Undip for Society,” this synergy is expected to deliver meaningful impacts for the community.
